We are Shepherd's Heart

Shepherd’s Heart Animal Sanctuary began with a quiet tug on Caroline Pickrel’s heart and a shared vision with her husband. After years of volunteering at shelters and seeing too many animals overlooked or forgotten, Caroline felt God calling her to create something different — a place where every animal would be seen, valued, and loved as part of His creation. Together, with no big funding or formal plans, just a small piece of land, a few rescued animals, and a lot of prayer, Caroline and her husband took a leap of faith and founded Shepherd’s Heart.

The early days were tough — full of long hours, unexpected challenges, and moments of doubt — but the mission never wavered. Slowly, through word of mouth, small donations, and the help of faithful volunteers, Shepherd’s Heart grew into a true sanctuary, a place of hope and second chances. Today, it stands as a testament to what God can do when two people say yes to His call — and when every creature, big or small, is treated with the love and care they deserve.
